Beatles fans are screaming again. But not because the group’s songs are on I-Tunes. Fans are excited because they have a chance to see what appears to be a live performance by rock legends. But what they’re really seeing is a facsimile called 1964 – The Tribute. The group is so authentic that fans don’t really mind that they’re not seeing the real thing.
Since we’re celebrating Paul McCartney this weekend in anticipation of his 70th birthday, WDET’s Jerome Vaughn dug into the archives for this piece from a decade ago.
Since this piece first aired in 2001, three of the four band members have changed – but the group is still on tour.
1964 the Tribute is schedule to play at the Meadowbrook Music Festival on July 20th.
