Plans to build a new stadium in downtown Utica represent a “field of dreams” come true for baseball fans in Macomb County. General Sports and Entertainment plans to build the new ballpark on the site of a former hazardous waste dump after city officials gave the land to the company. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel says officials have been talking about bringing minor league baseball to the area for years. He tells WDET's Pat Batcheller that General Sports and Entertainment wants to open its new baseball stadium in 2015 or 2016. Click on the audio links above to hear the conversation.
