Wayne State University has a new president. The school’s Board of Governors unanimously elected Doctor M. Roy Wilson to the position during a special meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Wilson currently serves as the Deputy Director for Strategic Scientific Planning and Program Coordination at the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities of the National Institutes of Health. He's also served as the Dean of the School of Medicine at Creighton University and Chancellor of the University of Colorado-Denver.

Shortly after his election as Wayne State's president, Wilson gave his first one-on-one interview to WDET’s Jerome Vaughn.

Wilson will officially take the post August first.
