The Ann Arbor City Council is considering whether to hire sharpshooters to thin the city’s deer population. The hunt would take place near the Huron River…where residents are complaining about over-population.

City Council Member Julie Grand says utilizing local marksmen is the most effective and humane option.

“Sharpshooters are very well trained, these are not random hunters going into neighborhoods or parks. These are people who get licensed every year,” Grand says.

Grand says the hunters are trained to kill deer with one shot. The Ann Arbor City Council is holding a public meeting on Monday to hear resident opinions.
